The Ballad of Mary Ann Brownlow

A chilling true story...

Davidcoleplaywright

The Ballad of Mary Ann Brownlow is the true story of a woman hanged in Goulburn in 1854 for the brutal murder of her husband. As she languishes in Goulburn Gaol, heavily pregnant with her third child, a charismatic priest visits her and converts this sinner into a saint. Meanwhile, the townsfolk call for her reprieve. This play was performed at the Lieder Theatre in 2004, 2005, and as part of an ACT Region tour in 2008. Co-written with the late John Spicer.
